April Meeting: Monday, April 3rd Luncheon Meeting at The Dayton Woman’s Club Lunch ~ 11:30 a.m. ~ $20
Program: What is Regenerative Medicine? Speaker: Peg Reiterman
Through cell therapies and tissue engineering, Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) scientists hope to use the body’s own cells to restore diseased tissues and organs to grow replacement organs. Imagine a time when healing does not mean waiting years on an organ transplant list. Imagine a time when chronic diseases such as diabetes or macular degeneration or conditions such as hearing loss are reversible. Imagine a time when a battlefield wound might not be crippling physically and emotionally crippling almost beyond bearing. Imagine a time when a cure does not involve drugs that destroy the immune system or produce side effects that are almost worse than the disease.
If you’re ready to be thrust into the 21st century with a new knowledge of aggressive and productive research, in addition to successful implantation, then come to our April meeting where we will have a guest speaker telling us about this great news.
Leaders: Linda Parker and Sandy Mefford

Help Wanted in regard to your reservations: Ladies, there seems to be an epidemic afloat! There are more and more luncheon reservations being made after the required due date, sometimes even beyond the cancellation date. I need this time to get all of my work done and let the Woman’s Club know how many meals are required. Please send your reservations in as early as you can. It will make my job a lot easier! (Sandy Mefford)

President’s April Message: Hooray for spring! I love the changes of the seasons and view these changes as some of the very best reasons to live in Ohio. I cheer the days getting longer and warmer and enjoy observing the area trees acquiring their leaves or beginning to flower. Numerous spring flowers soon emerge and show off their glory. We will welcome back the advent of the many area birds returning from their numerous adventures to build their nests and raise their young.
Every year, my husband and I are visited by a mallard couple. (We do not know if it is the original couple or offspring). They stop by daily for about a month to eat the corn we put out for the birds. They do not bring their young, though each year we hope to see ducklings.
This year, April includes the celebrations of Passover and Easter and at the end of the month, Arbor Day. These events commemorate new beginnings and hope for the future. April is an opportunity for all of us to embrace this time as one for fresh beginnings and renewal.
Let’s hope that all of us will find April filled with many happy days and blessings.
Sincerely, Ann E. Wolf, CWC President
NOTE: Please see the newsletter for other items, including updates for the yearbook and for member-care items (illness, thank you note and other information). There were two Yearbook changes in this newsletter: one person reinstated and one death. Two cards were sent out by Corresponding Secretary Marge Lane: a thank-you card and a sympathy card.
